We all want white, sparkling teeth, right!? But using the whitening strips or the fancy ones from the dentist can really strip the enamel that protects our teeth from stains! This can leave them fragile and brittle and susceptible to cracks, cavities, and even more stains. Booooo! Plus who even knows what harsh chemicals are in those whiteners? No one wants those harmful ingredients in their mouths! I know I don’t….So how do we keep our teeth stain free or whiten them if they aren’t the whitest?
Today I’m going to share with you how I whiten my teeth naturally and safely so that you can do it too!
Here are three natural teeth whiteners that you can do at home to help keep your breath fresh and teeth stain free! The ingredients in all three latches on to the grime to wipe away those stains. You can do any of these washes 1-2 times a week!
Turmeric Tooth Wash
Directions:
Wet your toothbrush under running water.
Dip wet brush in turmeric powder, so that it covers the brush. You don’t need much (about 1/8 powder)
Brush your teeth for about two minutes
Then let the turmeric paste sit on your teeth for about 5 minutes. This is the most important step as the turmeric whitens your teeth!
Rinse your mouth with water as normal.
Follow up by brushing your teeth with your regular toothpaste. I recommend using baking soda, as it is a great natural toothpaste.
Charcoal Tooth Wash
Directions:
Mix 1/2 a teaspoon of activated charcoal with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. If the coconut oil is hard, heat it up to melt before mixing.
Add in 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and perhaps 1-2 drops of an essential oil of your choice.
Brush your teeth for about two minutes
Rinse your mouth with water as normal.
Follow up by brushing your teeth with your regular toothpaste. I recommend using baking soda, as it is a great natural toothpaste.
Coconut Oil Mouth Rinse
Directions:
Measure out 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
Put in mouth and swish around for 15-20 minutes. Make sure NOT to swallow any oil! The oil may be hard when you first put it in your mouth but don’t worry it will liquefy quickly. I like to oil “pull” while I shower as it makes the time pass by quickly.
When you are done, be sure to spit in the trash as the oil can clog pipes.
Rinse your mouth super well before eating or drinking.
Note: This is by far the hardest method I listed. Twenty minutes is a super long time to do this mouth rinse; its totally ok to work your way up to this. Find a time that works best for you and your schedule. Also, this rinse gathers up bacteria from your mouth and teeth, so it very important to spit it out in the trash, as it can be harmful to your gut if swallowed.
These three tooth whiteners are not only NATURAL but they can save you money and also protect your teeth. The ingredients in these whiteners are safe for your body and you no longer have to spend money constantly buying teeth whitener strips or expensive gels from the dentist!
Which whitening method is your fav?
